A terrestrial Bladderwort: Utricularia sandersonii

The first description was. Now - nearly 150 years later - Utricularia sandersonii is a well-liked plant in culture. The reason for this is the very easy culture (easiest plant of all Utricularia) and the wonderful flowers. Homeland is south africa - there you can find the plants directly growing on wet rocks. The plant is from the same family as Utricularia livida. Culture: permanent water tray method (1/2 inch water) and the whole year warm (25°C / 77°F are perfect and 20-30°C / 70-85°F are OK). Keep the plant away from direct (noontime) sun and be avoid of temperatures above 90°F. For soil I use a peat-sand-mixture 2:1.

Small experiment: This plant is potted in pure sand (and is growing there very good).
